While inaugurating the purchase ceremony of paddy at subsidised prices in Madhavbari of Jirania sub-division, Minister Chowdhury said, “In the past there was no arrangement for purchasing paddy through MSP in Tripura. As a result the farmers were deprived.

The current state government has started buying paddy from farmers at the rate of 2040 rupees per quintal. This year, the state government has set a target of purchasing 35,000 metric tonnes of paddy from farmers.”

Chowdhury requested the farmers of the state to sell their paddy in contact with the nearest agriculture department or the office of the Sub-Divisional Commissioner and take advantage of the sale of paddy at the minimum subsidized price.

The Minister also said, “Necessary measures will be taken to ensure that all farmers can sell a specified quantity of paddy at government subsidized prices.”

He instructed the officials present there to keep a watchful eye so that farmers are not harassed in any way to sell paddy at government subsidized prices at the paddy buying center.
