Kamalpur, Dec  — Panic has gripped residents in the Dear Club neighborhood of central Kamalpur after two consecutive thefts were reported within the last three days. Locals have expressed strong resentment over the alleged inaction of the police.

According to reports, local resident Nikhil Chandra Deb had locked his house and left for Agartala for medical treatment last Friday. Taking advantage of the situation, miscreants entered the house from the back on Sunday night. They broke open the cupboards and fled with cash amounting to approximately ₹8,000–₹10,000. Failing to locate any gold ornaments, the thieves allegedly vandalized the belongings inside.

Upon receiving the information, the house owner rushed back home and lodged a complaint. Police arrived at the scene and initiated a preliminary investigation.

Meanwhile, residents have demanded stronger security measures in the area to prevent further incidents.
