PULSE POLIO IMMUNIZATION BY ASSAM RIFLES
- Assam Rifles coordinated with PHCs and organised ‘Pulse Polio Immunization’ programme in remote villages of the state. Children under five years of age with their mothers from remote villages were provided transport and escorted to the PHCs for the vaccination. The administering of oral vaccine to children extended the reach of the national effort in eradicating polio from the country.
- The active involvement of Assam Rifles in extending the government programme was appreciated by the PHCs as it assisted them in administering the dosage to maximum possible children. Total of 714 children were ferried from remote villages for the oral vaccine.
- Pulse polio immunisation drive was also conducted in Assam Rifles hospitals at Kunjaban, Udaipur and Radhanagar, total of 288 children were administered the polio vaccine in Assam Rifle hospitals
