Durga Puja celebrations may be marred by rainfall in the region.

Weathermen have predicted heavy showers from Mahasasthi on Friday, the first day of Durga Puja.

An IMD official said on Wednesday, “Moisture incursion is likely to enhance over the region because of the movement of south-westerly winds from the Bay of Bengal. Light to moderate rain is expected in many places in the northeast. There is a possibility of heavy rain in isolated places between Friday and Sunday.
