Nagpur, July 11: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat has stirred a political controversy with his recent remarks suggesting that leaders should step aside upon reaching the age of 75.
The statement, made during a book launch event on senior RSS leader Moropant Pingle in Nagpur, has been interpreted by several Congress and Opposition leaders as an indirect message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will turn 75 this September.
Recalling a past Sangh meeting held in Vrindavan, Bhagwat mentioned that Moropant Pingle was felicitated with a stole after completing 75 years of age — a tradition observed within the organisation. The remark has since fueled political speculation over whether it signals a leadership transition expectation for those holding public office.
