Security tightened in Tripura ahead of vote counting

The Chief Secretary J K Sinha, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Kiran Gitte, Director General of Police (DGP) Amitabh Ranjan and various other top officials have visited all districts and held meetings with police chiefs.

They have issued instructions to ensure adequate security arrangements in all counting stations as well as across the state so that the vote counting process can be done peacefully on March 2.

Patrolling has been intensified and nakas have been set up across the state while personnel of state police, Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) are deployed to prevent any untoward situation.
The CAPF is carrying out flag marches in Tripura regularly, especially in the border areas, in coordination with the BSF.

Further, random checking in cars and hotels is underway. DGP is keeping a close watch on the preparations.

All political parties have been requested to maintain peace and harmony during and after the counting process.
