A team of Central Citrus Research Institute visits orange orchard
Horticulture and Sail Conservation department has taken special initiative to revive orange cultivation in Jampui Hills. A team of four representatives of Nagpur bused Central Citnes Research Institute, Mumbai visited orange orchards along with orange growers in lampui hill on April 27-28 in this regard. The team of four representatives had Director of Nagpur-based KAR CCRI Dr. Dilip Ghosh, Principal Scientist (Plant Pathology) Dr. A. K. Das, Principal Scientist (Floriculture) Dr. A. A. Mukherjee and Principal Scientist (Entomology) Dr. G.T. Behere.
During their visit, two representatives of the team suggested, it is possible to revive orange cultivation in Jampui hills. For this, the orange growers must be more aware, diligent and must practice scientific ways of cultivation. Horticulture and Soil Conservation department must take necessary initiative in this regard so that nurseries can be set up for production of quality orange tree saplings. In this regard, Farmers Knowledge Centre of North Tripura district will play an important role.
On the second day of their visit on April 28, a training camp was organized on oninge cultivation at Jampuihill BAC hall with the initiative of Central Citrus Research Institute and Horticulture and Soil Consavation department. Those present during the training program were Jampuihill BAC Chairman Riyakchangnungs, Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Horticu department Dr. Phani Bhushan Jamatia. Total 60 orange growers took part in the training program.
Agri researchers of North Tripura district and District Officer of Horticulture and Soil Conservation department were present during 2-day visit of the scam On April 29, the team of Central Cimus Research Institute visited orange orchard of North Barumura village area of Killa block and intericted with the orange mowers there. They also conducted a workshop there on proper maintenance of murseries, maintenance of trees before und after rainfall, maintaining health of orange trees and prevention of insects.
50 orange growers have participated in the workshop, MLA Rampada Jamaatis and Director of Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation department Dr. Phami Bhushan Jamaria were present during their visit to Killa block, this was informed in a press release isual by Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation department.
