State Govt announced a new scheme : Atal Jaldhara in state

Chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb has announced a new scheme of the state government ‘Atal Jaldhara Mission’ to provide free water supply connection to households uncovered as yet.

A announcement in this regard was made by chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb and deputy chief minister Jishnu Debbarma in a Press conference last night in the state secretariat.

Elaborating on the scheme the chief minister said that households in rural and urban areas , as yet uncovered by water supply, will be given free connection with the cost of pipeline and ferule being borne by the state government.

‘This task will be completed within next three years in a hassle-free manner and the initially estimated cost is Rs 105 crores, in addition the blockage, leakage and damage to the existing pipelines will be repaired at the same time, steps will also be taken to prevent misuse of water at the domestic level’ said Biplab Kumar Deb.

Chief minister added out of 1,09,295 families under Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), 59,469 families have already been extended water supply connections while the remaining families will be covered by the ‘Atal Jaldhara Mission’ .

He also said that from now on filing applications for water supply connections and the entire procedure connected therewith will be simplified.
