Banned insurgent group National Liberation Front of Twipra (NLFT) wrote a letter to Tripura East MP Rebati Kumar Tripura show causing him for voting in favour of CAA, and threatening to call for his social boycott.
In an official statement, NLFT has sought the support from the media in bringing authentic, extensive and thorough news coverage from Northeast India.
The outfit, expressing rage, said that MP Rebati Tripura has ‘betrayed’ the indigenous people and has failed to preserve, protect and defend the aspirations of the indigenous people of Tripura.
Furthermore, the statement read, the Act imposes the burden of illegal immigrants on the state and also is a
threat to the indigenous inhabitant of NE.
NLFT secretary-general D Uomthai said, “… regrettably, no lawmaker of the country, has ever made any effort to know how the illegal immigrants are tearing apart our lives, culture, economy, polity and society. The CAB failed to address the roots of political conflict in Twipra and aggravates the wounds. The emerging outcome of it not only undermines the Borok people’s case against the illegal immigrants and infiltrators but puts very existence of our in great danger. It consolidates the hold of illegal immigrants and enslaves us in our ancestral land.”
