Zero-tolerance policy against insurgency advocated by the Chief Minister, Tripura has motivated Tripura Police to advance further towards making Tripura an insurgency free State. Priority of the State Police with regard to anti-insurgency strategy witnessed significant achievement today on 5th August, 2022 with the surrender of 4(four) extremists and 2(two) collaborators along with arms, ammunition and other incriminating documents of NLFT(BM) group.
This is yet another success of the Government and State Police.
On 21st July, 4(four) armed NLFT(BM) group namely (1) Umesh Kolai @ Uklai (42) S/O Biptamani Kolai of Chinaibari, PS- Ompi, District Gomati SS Colonel (2) Fanijoy Reang @ Sathukri @ Athukri (39) S/O Dataram Reang of Rajdhar, PS-Manikpur, District- Dhalai SS Warrant Officer (3) Victor Jamatia (47) @ Halam S/O Tarani Kumar Jamatia of Saimarua, PS- Killa, District- Gomati SS Lt. Colonel (4) Uttam Kishore Jamatia (42) @ Usha S/O Shri Surkach Hari Jamatia of Khupuilong, PS- Killa, Present address Twiharchong, PS- R.K Pur entered into Tripura from Bangladesh through Ganganagar border of Dhalai district with a view to Kidnapping, extortion etc. They moved in the jungle areas of Ganganagar, Mungiakami, Ompi and Killa PSs. Sensing their movement inside the State, intelligence based special operations were launched involving TSR and District Police including CRPF and BSF. As a result of which, the group faced hardships to move and even survive in the deep jungle of Baramura Range. Pressure exerted by security forces made them surrender today on 5th August 2022 before Tripura Police.
On 30/09/2020 the accused person committed rape upon the victim while she was going to her home after attending a social program.
It is pertinent to mention here that after thorough investigation of the case by investigating office SI. Satya Ranjan Nandi of Manubazzar Police Station (Now posted at Srinagar Out Post), the case was charge sheeted and subsequently ended in conviction.
