Tripura: TIPRA Motha chief hints alliance with IPFT

Ahead of the Assembly poll slated to be held in February 2023, the Indigenous people’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) the ruling ally have officially decided to form ‘unity’ with Tipra Motha and has called for a single party “IPFT-TIPRA Motha”.

TIPRA Motha Chairman Pradyot Kishore Debbarman has not yet made any deal with BJP or with Congress and CPI-M, which has created uncertainty among the leaders and workers of Motha.

Pradyot on Friday night said that he would not compromise the demand of ‘Greater Tipraland’ through a Facebook live.

Nonetheless, Pradyot also indicated if a written assurance of his demand is not provided, the party would contest alone in the assembly elections to be held on February 16.

Motha sources stated that Pradyot held a long meeting with Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP’s Northeast Coordinator Sambit Patra, BJP state in-charge Dr Mahesh Sharma and three others in Delhi on Friday.

On Saturday, TIPRA Motha president Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhal left for Delhi and he would sit with the senior BJP leaders.
