Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh – A tragic stampede at the Maha Kumbh venue in Prayagraj claimed 30 lives early this morning, just before dawn. The police chief responsible for security at the massive religious gathering confirmed the fatalities today.

According to police officer Vaibhav Krishna, 25 victims have been identified so far, while 60 others sustained injuries, many of whom have been hospitalized for treatment.

News of the casualties surfaced hours after local reports and social media posts from Prayagraj residents highlighted the incident. However, the initial reports varied in the number of fatalities.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the stampede, and rescue operations are ongoing.
