A review meeting was chaired by the Chairman of Agartala Smart City Limited and the Secretary of the Urban Development Department (UDD), Government of Tripura, along with officials from the power department and other concerned agencies. The meeting addressed issues of public inconvenience arising from ongoing road works undertaken by Agartala Smart City Limited.
Stakeholders from various line departments, including TSECL, DWS, UDD, the Jal Board, and all concerned contractors, were present.
The Secretary expressed serious concern regarding the public inconvenience and issued the following instructions to be strictly followed:
Henceforth, no random excavation shall be permitted. Any excavation must be limited to a 50-60 meter stretch. Fresh excavation elsewhere may commence only upon the full completion of an ongoing stretch.
A public notice must be issued at least two days before starting work on any new stretch.
The Traffic Department must be informed, and its written approval obtained, before any excavation begins. Subsequently, a public notice indicating alternative diversion routes must be published in newspapers.
Proper safety measures, road diversions, and public awareness initiatives must be implemented. This includes installing appropriate signage at every worksite.
It was further instructed that a weekly review meeting be held at the level of the Municipal Commissioner, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), to ensure all work complies with the issued instructions and directions.
