Around 20 leaders resigned from Primary Membership of the Congress Party

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Tripura Pradesh Congress faced a significant setback as several leaders and activists parted ways with the party.

There is widespread discontent among party members, leading to doubts about the party’s ability to secure even 1% of the votes in the upcoming polls.


Following the resignation of leaders such as Pradesh Congress general secretary Prashanta Bhattacharjee, many others have also distanced themselves from the party.

Notably, senior leaders like Brijit Sinha are no longer actively involved in party affairs.
A significant number of youth workers recently resigned from the primary membership of Congress, citing strong allegations of factionalism within the party. They accused a group known as the “Barman group” of controlling Tripura Pradesh Congress, where dedicated party workers receive no respect.


Ousted NSUI state president Samrat Roy highlighted that individuals who had previously criticized senior Congress leaders like Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, even threatening to physically harm them, are now leaders within the Tripura Congress.


Since Sudip Roy Barman and Asish Kumar Saha gained leadership of Congress in Tripura, sidelining true Congress leaders and supporters loyal leaders have lost faith and are leaving the party. They refuse to visit party headquarters or attend events, rejecting the dominance of Sudip Roy Barman and Asish Kumar Saha.


Some Congress members believe Sudip and Asish are only involved with the party for personal gain and power, and could switch sides at any moment. The party has been in disarray since the Delhi leadership handed control to Sudip and Asish.
