“The state has to be self-sufficient not only in food grains but also in the production of spices and seeds.

The government will provide all kinds of help to the farmers to cultivate in modern and scientific methods.” Ratanlal Nath, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, said this while speaking at a meeting of farmers in Betaga and Muhuripur panchayats of Shantir Bazar sub-district on Friday.

Cooperatives Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, MLA Pramod Reang, South Tripura Zilla Parishad Chairperson Kakali Das Dutta, Bagafa Panchayat Samiti Chairman Shridam Das and Shantirbazar Municipal Council Chairperson Swapna Vaidya and others were present on two separate occasions.

While interacting with the farmers, the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister said, “It is possible to produce double crops in less land by using scientific methods. Tripura has to be self-sufficient in food by producing two or three crops on the same land.”

The Agriculture Minister advised the farmers to grow crops even on fallow land without abandoning the land.

Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratanlal Nath on Friday visited vegetables and cropped fields in two panchayats. During the visit he also talked to the farmers and inquired about farming.
