Tripura opposition CPIM will once again field former Finance Minister BhanuLal Saha as the Rajya Sabha candidate in the ensuing bye-polls to the Upper House from Tripura as per sources.
The election commission has announced the date of the by-election to the single Rajya Sabha seat from Tripura.
The Rajya Sabha Election in Tripura became necessitated when the Rajya Sabha seat became vacated after the resignation of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha from this seat.
Notably, Dr Manik Saha was elected as Rajya Sabha MP from Tripura in April this year.
However, on May 15, BJP appointed Saha as the Chief Minister of Tripura soon after taking an oath as a Rajya Sabha MP.
Manik Saha became the Chief Minister due to sudden resignation of Biplab Deb.
Later in June, Dr. Saha was elected an MLA from the Town Bardowali constituency through by-election.
