BJP MLA Biswabandhu Sen elected as Tripura Speaker; Tipra Motha abstains from voting

BJP MLA Biswabandhu Sen was elected as Speaker of the Tripura Assembly with 32 votes in the 60-member house.

BJP MLA Biswabandhu Sen defeated Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy.

Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy got only 14 votes of the total 27 opposition MLAs.

Tipra Motha Party, the main opposition, abstained from voting.
