Jitendra Chowdhury, Leader of the Opposition and State Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), on Tuesday alleged that the Tipra Motha and the Bharatiya Janata Party are “two sides of the same coin,” claiming that an electoral understanding between them is inevitable.
Addressing a press conference organized by the Tripura Left Front Committee at the CPI(M) headquarters, Chowdhury further criticized parties allied with the BJP in the government.
He alleged that despite having “absolutely nothing in common,” they are functioning together and “looting in unison.”
The senior Left leader’s remarks come amid growing political speculation over possible alliances ahead of upcoming elections in the state.
