Agartala, Feb 6: Tripura Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha on Thursday alleged that repeated eviction drives in the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) area, including the capital city, are nothing more than “staged dramas.”

Addressing a press conference, Saha said that while hawkers and small business owners are being evicted in the name of clearing public spaces, no concrete or positive steps are being taken for their proper rehabilitation.

As a result, he claimed, the same issue continues to resurface in different parts of the city.

The Congress leader asserted that without ensuring rehabilitation through a humane and structured approach, a permanent solution to the crisis would remain elusive.

The party has called upon the authorities to adopt a compassionate policy that safeguards the livelihood of small traders while addressing urban management concerns.
