Congress Holds Protest in Agartala Against Alleged Attack on Saints

Agartala, Jan 22: The Tripura Pradesh Congress on Wednesday organized a protest march and demonstration in Agartala, condemning the alleged attack by the Uttar Pradesh police administration on Jagatguru Shankaracharya and other saints and ascetics.

The programme was held in the Shakuntala Road area of the city, where Congress workers raised slogans and burnt effigies of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a mark of protest.

Addressing the gathering, Congress MLA Sudip Barman strongly condemned the incident and accused the Uttar Pradesh government of acting against religious leaders and suppressing their voices.

He demanded immediate accountability and strict action against those responsible.
The protest remained peaceful, though heavy police presence was maintained in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
