CPIM Delegations Meet Tripura Governor; Demand Judicial Probe into DGP Anurag Dhankar’s Death

Agartala, July 27: A delegation of CPI(M) MLAs, led by Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury, on Monday met Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, demanding a fair and impartial investigation into the unnatural death of the state’s Director General of Police (DGP), late Anurag Dhankar.

Following the meeting, Jitendra Chowdhury said the delegation urged the Governor to ensure that the investigation is conducted by a committee headed by a judge of the Tripura High Court. He stated that the Governor listened carefully to their concerns and assured them that necessary steps would be taken in the matter.

Later, a separate five-member CPI(M) delegation led by former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar also met the Governor and submitted a memorandum seeking a judicial probe into the DGP’s death.

Addressing the media, Manik Sarkar questioned the state government’s reported opposition to conducting the investigation under the supervision of a High Court judge. He reiterated the party’s demand for a transparent and independent inquiry to establish the facts surrounding the incident.

The delegation accompanying Manik Sarkar included Naresh Jamatia, Shankar Dutta, Rama Das and Krishna Rakshit.
