A program was organized at Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala on the occasion of West Tripura district based International Older Persons day celebration.

Agartala Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta inaugurated this event organized by the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education.

Inaugurating the program, the Deputy Mayor said, “Senior citizens have an important role in our society. They are the guiding light of the society. This event is organized to honor the senior citizens on the occasion of International Day for Older Persons. We all need to ensure that senior citizens are not neglected in society.”

The acting president of West Tripura Zilla Parishad, Hari Dulal Acharya said, “I feel proud to pay tribute to the senior citizens in the event. The theme of this year’s International Day for Older Persons is: ‘Fulfilling the Promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Older Persons: Across Generations’.”
