The two-day long district-wise Artisan Fair concluded on Wednesday at the Conference Hall of the West Tripura District Magistrate’s office.
On the last day of the fair, District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan said in a press conference that 165 handicraftsmen and artisans participated in the two-day fair among which 106 artisans have been selected for further training.
He added that the selected persons will also be trained in handloom and handicrafts, organic food grains production, food processing and marketing in collaboration with Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (Delhi), North Eastern Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation (Guwahati) and Tripura TRLM, Tribal Welfare and Forest Department.
The District Magistrate further said that for a long time the unskilled artists of the remote areas who are deprived of various modern technical communications have been taken to make them financially self-reliant by helping them in various ways. He added that this fair was organised for this purpose.
