Prime Accused Still Absconding in Bishalgarh Extortion Firing Case; Panic Grips Area

A week after the sensational extortion and firing incident in Bishalgarh, the prime accused, Ranabir Debnath, continues to remain at large, raising serious concerns over law enforcement efforts.

The case, registered at the Bishalgarh Police Station, has so far led to the arrest of four individuals. However, the failure to apprehend the main accused has sparked widespread questions among local residents.

According to allegations, about a week ago, Ranabir Debnath allegedly visited the residence of Chandan Debnath near Balak Baba Ashram and demanded ₹15 lakh. When the demand was not met, he reportedly opened fire, creating panic in the locality.

In another alleged incident, he subsequently entered the house of Anup Kumar Saha in Netajinagar and demanded ₹51 lakh. A similar act of intimidation, including firing, was reportedly carried out there as well.

Despite the seriousness of the allegations and the arrests already made in connection with the case, the inability of police to capture the prime accused has heightened fear among residents.

The situation has also led to growing speculation and criticism regarding the effectiveness of police action, with concerned citizens demanding swift steps to restore confidence and ensure public safety.
