AGARTALA: Traffic congestion in Agartala city has escalated significantly due to the frequent movement and unregulated stopping of electric autos (e-autos) on major roadways.
Local residents and commuters have reported that e-autos frequently occupy active driving lanes to pick up and drop off passengers during peak hours, severely disrupting traffic flow.
In response to growing congestion, the Tripura Traffic Police launched a targeted enforcement operation in the AD Nagar area on Friday. Led by the Traffic Police Superintendent, officers seized several e-autos found violating traffic regulations and issued stern warnings to drivers to adhere to prescribed routes and norms to keep city traffic moving smoothly.
The operation sparked strong reactions from local e-auto drivers, leading to heated arguments with police personnel at the scene. Drivers voiced frustration over the sudden enforcement, demanding clear guidelines on permissible routes and city restrictions.
