AGARTALA: Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Friday announced that the state government will bear the entire burden of the additional electricity charges imposed under the Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (TERC) tariff order for 2026–27 through a 100 per cent subsidy.

Addressing a press conference, Nath stated that the decision was taken by the State Cabinet under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to provide direct relief to consumers facing a sharp rise in fixed charges.

“The government has decided to bear 100 per cent of the increased charges under the new tariff order,” Nath said, adding that the subsidy will cover almost all categories of consumers, including domestic users, farmers, businesses, and industries.

Railway traction, however, has been excluded from the full subsidy, while a 15 per cent subsidy will apply to defence installations, Railways, All India Radio, Doordarshan, and similar establishments.
