Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha by-poll at the Legislative Assembly premises on Monday.
Incumbent Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Union minister of state Pratima Bhowmik, Pradesh BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee, MP Rebati Tripura, cabinet ministers, MLAs and senior leaders of BJP were present when Deb filed his nomination.
Speaking to reporters, ex-Chief Minister Deb expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president JP Nadda, union Home minister Amit Shah, Defence minister Rajnath Singh, Chief Minister Dr Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Dev Varma, cabinet ministers, BJP MLAs and many other key leaders and workers of BJP party for keeping faith on him.
Deb added that the largest political party has nominated him for the Rajya Sabha seat
He said that he has submitted his nomination papers.
He urged BJP leaders and workers to put up a united fight for the 2023 assembly elections in the northeastern state.
Mr Deb is contesting for the RS seat vacated by Saha who replaced him as the chief minister.
