Former CM Manik Sarkar, LoP Jitendra Chaudhury expressed grief over the sudden death of DGP

Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar expressed grief over the sudden death of the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar . He told reporters at GB Hospital that he had to face non-cooperation from some police officers when he went to see the body of Anurag Dhankar.

According to Manik Sarkar, Dhankar was one of the best, honest, transparent and brave police officers in the state, who played an important role in dealing with difficult situations.

He also alleged that currently the democratic environment in Tripura is being narrowed, the right to freely express opinions, hold processions and meetings is also being hampered. He called the situation worrying.

Meanwhile, CPIM state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury said, Anurag Dhankar was a self-respecting, honest, brave and duty full police officer. He has shown efficiency throughout his career from SDPO to DG.

He commented that he sees this incident as a reflection of the current abnormal situation in the state. He claimed that an officer like Dhankar cannot commit suicide easily.

Jitendra Chowdhury demanded the formation of a special investigation committee under the supervision of the Chief Justice of the High Court for an impartial investigation into the incident.
