Agartala, July 20: MLA Sudip Roy Barman has expressed deep grief over the unnatural death of Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar and demanded an impartial investigation under the supervision of High Court judges to uncover the truth behind the incident.
In a statement, Sudip Roy Barman described the discovery of the senior police officer’s body inside his office while he was in police uniform as an “unprecedented and deeply disturbing” incident.
He said he had shared a long-standing personal relationship with Anurag Dhankar, describing him as an honest, efficient and dedicated police officer who carried out his duties with sincerity.
The MLA urged people not to jump to conclusions regarding the circumstances surrounding the death, stating that it would be inappropriate to speculate before the investigation is completed.
Calling for a fair and transparent inquiry, Sudip Roy Barman demanded that the investigation be conducted under the supervision of High Court judges so that the actual circumstances behind the DGP’s death can be brought to light.
