Agartala, April 26:
In a significant crackdown on human trafficking, the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP), along with the Border Security Force (BSF), Sonamura Police Station, and Jatrapur Police Station, arrested four Indian brokers allegedly involved in facilitating the illegal movement of Bangladeshi nationals through the state.
According to officials, every day amidst ongoing tensions, several people from Bangladesh are illegally entering India and attempting to move to other states via Agartala Railway Station. Local brokers have been reportedly assisting these individuals by arranging food, shelter, and transport to the station.
Based on information gathered from previously arrested Bangladeshi nationals, the authorities identified and apprehended four Indian brokers in an overnight operation.
In a related development, a Bangladeshi national named Biplob Das, hailing from Sunamganj, was also detained at Agartala Railway Station yesterday afternoon.
Investigations are ongoing, and further arrests are expected as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle human trafficking networks operating along the border areas.
