Govt says no breach of Aadhaar card holders’ data from the UIDAI database till date

Centre has said that no breach of data of Aadhaar card holders occurred from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) database till date.

Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada informed this in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today. He said that Aadhaar is the world’s largest biometric identity system with approximately 134 crores live Aadhaar holders.

Mr Prasada informed that it has completed more than 16 thousand crore authentication transactions. The Minister said, UIDAI has implemented a multi-layered security infrastructure with a defence-in-depth concept to protect its database and continuously audits to protect its systems.

He informed that it also uses advanced encryption technologies for protecting data during transmission and storage.
