Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu inaugurated the two-day Tripura Education Conclave 2026 on the theme “National Education Policy (NEP), Transforming School and Higher Education” at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala, this morning. The conclave was organised by Vidya Bharati Shiksha Samiti, Tripura, in collaboration with Maharaja Bir Bikram University, Tripura, to deliberate on the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and explore ways to transform school and higher education.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that NEP 2020 is not merely a policy document but a roadmap for transforming India into a developed nation by 2047 under the vision of Viksit Bharat. The policy envisages an education system rooted in Indian ethos that promotes an equitable and vibrant knowledge society through quality education for all, while positioning India as a global knowledge superpower.
Highlighting the five fundamental pillars of NEP 2020 Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability and Accountability-the Governor stressed that these principles must guide the transformation of the country’s educational landscape. He also referred to the policy’s emphasis on multidisciplinary education, multiple entry and exit options, the Academic Bank of Credits, and the establishment of Multidisciplinary Education and Research Universities at par with premier institutions such as the IITs and IIMs. The Governor stated that efforts were underway to effectively implement NEP 2020 in schools across Tripura. The introduction of the NCERT syllabus, he said, would strengthen students’ academic foundations and prepare them to compete in national-level examinations.
The Governor stated that the success of the Tripura Education Conclave 2026 would be measured not merely by its deliberations but by the concrete actions and outcomes that followed. He expressed hope that the conclave would lead to practical and implementable initiatives, including a regional digital education platform, teacher exchange programmes and curriculum development suited to the distinctive needs and aspirations of the northeastern region.
