In a significant move to promote sustainable agriculture and improve crop productivity, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dhalai organized a Soil Health Management and Soil Health Card (SHC) Distribution Programme at North Kachucherra, Salema on Monday under the National Mission on Edible Oils (NMEO).

The event witnessed active participation from local farmers, agricultural officers, and stakeholders, all of whom came together to discuss the importance of soil health in modern farming. The programme aimed to educate farmers on the benefits of soil testing, balanced fertilization, and organic practices to maintain long-term soil fertility.

During the event, Soil Health Cards were distributed among farmers, providing them with valuable insights into the nutrient status of their land. These cards are expected to help farmers make informed decisions regarding the type and quantity of fertilizers to be used, thereby improving productivity and reducing environmental impact.

A technical session was also held, where experts from KVK Dhalai shared best practices in soil management, crop diversification, and the role of pulses and oilseeds under the NMEO initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, officials emphasized the Government of India’s commitment to enhancing the livelihoods of farmers through scientific interventions and farmer-centric programmes. They also encouraged the adoption of sustainable methods to ensure soil health for future generations.

The event concluded with an interactive session, where farmers shared their experiences and sought guidance from experts.
