“Bankimchandra Chatterjee is a bright name of Bengali literature. Apart from roaming freely in the literary world, he also inspired the countrymen with patriotism.”

Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar said while inaugurating the tribute program organized by Information and Cultural Affairs Department on the 185th birth anniversary of Sahitya Samrat Bankimchandra Chatterjee in Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan on Monday evening.

Mayor added, “After the Narendra Modi-led government came to power at the Centre, eminent persons in various fields are being given due respect.

He further said, “Bankimchandra Chatterjee has enriched the literary world in many ways. The more the present generation can know about him, the more they will benefit.” Bimbisar Bhattacharya, Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department was also present at the function.

On the occasion of Bankimchandra Chatterjee’s 185th birth anniversary, certificates were awarded to the participants of drawing competition. The guests of the event handed over certificates to them.
