CM Manik Saha inaugurates historical Kharchi Puja in Agartala; says govt contemplating to form trust for Chaturdasha Devata temple

“A festival is a meeting place for people of all caste, religion and caste. The state’s traditional Kharchi festival is no exception. The Kharchi festival of Chaturdarsh Devta Bari (Fourteen Deity Temple) is a meeting place for the people of the state. The people of the state wait for this festival.”

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said this while inaugurating the 7-day Kharchi festival and fair at the Fourteen Deity temple premises on Monday morning.

Chief Minister Saha further said, “Tripura has a glorious history of art and culture. This traditional art and culture of the state is in no way less than the culture of any other state in the country. The Information and Cultural Affairs Department and the Tribal Welfare Department are making relentless efforts to bring the traditional mixed culture of the state’s castes and tribes before the country.”

The Chief Minister said that initiatives will be taken to form a trust for the Fourteen Deity temple like the Tripurasundari temple.
CM Saha added, “No such infrastructure has been developed to organize the Kharchi festival in the past. The current state government is working on various issues including infrastructural development of the fourteen deity temple.”

The Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction that all the measures taken by the festival committee to provide facilities to the pilgrims coming to the Kharchi fair are commendable.
