No Entry in Agartala city from 5 pm. to 1 am during Durga Puja (October 17-20)
In view of the upcoming Durga Puja the traffic department has taken special
arrangements to ensure smooth movement of traffic and safety of public in Agartala city.

During Durga Puja from October 17 to October 20, “No Entry” system will be in force from 5 pm. to 1 am. This will be done to ensure proper traffic management in the city areas. However, the timing of ‘No Entry’ may be changed as per requirements. Kanta Jangir, SP, traffic, informed this during a press conference held at the headquarters of the traffic department at Arundhutinagar today.

At the press meet, SP, traffic further informed that specific drop gate and terminal points have been identified for the passenger buses and large vehicles. Similarly, separate terminal will be in operation in Agartala bypass area for trucks and heavy goods carriers.

The terminal points earmarked for passenger buses and large vehicles are –
Pandit Nehru Complex, AK Road Training Club crossing, Nagerjala bus terminal, AD Nagar, Pratapgarh, Bailey bridge area, Chandramohan Setu area, Ramthakur Boys School Bridge area, Gandhi School, MBB College area, Chandrapur Masjid’s adjoining area, GBP and Cancer Hospital area, northern side of Indranagar bridge. For trucks and other heavy goods carriers terminal points will be – Amtali Bypass, Khayerpur bypass,Madhabbari, Lichubagan, and Border Gol Chakkar area.
It was informed that special passes will be available for persons associated with
emergency services, police, administration, TSR, Fire Service, SIB, media, pharmacy
workers, entrusted people of Puja committees and other people engaged in emergencyservices.

A special webpage is in the making with the help of DIT to manage passes.
The issued passes should be displayed on the left side of the car windshield. Passes
will not be transferable and cannot be forged. In addition, people in uniform working for Swiggy and Zomato as well as airlines, air passengers with necessary documents will be allowed entry to specific zones. At different locations of the city adequate police personnel will be deployed and CCTV cameras and drop gates will be in place. Air and train passengers will have to follow designated routes. Detailed route map will be announced later.

The SP, traffic also discussed in detail regarding the payment of traffic challan. She
said, challans issued before April 26 could be paid online. The virtual challans could be disposed and contested legally through the designated portal. But the challans sent to the court will have to be disposed of in the court only. Challans issued after April 26 are not being sent to the court at the moment. That can be paid by visiting the concerned traffic unit or online, until the NextGen e-Challan is made operational. Currently all fines for the violation of traffic rules are being collected in cashless system.
