Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi yesterday launched Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission nationwide for further development and advancement, health infrastructure in the country.
Through this mission, 64 crore rupees will be invested on the development of health infrastructure in the country for the next 5 years.
The Prime Minister through video conference launched the mission. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb along with Chief Secretary Kumar Alok, Principal Secretary of Health JK Sinha and Director of National Health Mission Tripura Sidharth Shiv Jaiswal attended the ceremony virtually from the Secretariat.
Prime Minister in his video message said, the central government is working tirelessly day in and day out for bringing more advancement in health services for the citizens of the country.
The previous central government did not emphasize much upon catering health facilities as much as the citizens of the country needed.
They were neglected from health facilities for a long time. However, the present central government is strengthening the health infrastructure in the country for facilitating health services to the nation’s citizens. High level preparation is being taken to tackle any kind of epidemic through this mission. To bring confidence and self-reliance in health services from rural-urban to block level, over 35,000 beds will be added to the system in more than 600 districts in the country for treatments.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb after the launch of the mission termed the mission as a ground breaking initiative.
He also added, after Prime Minister took over the government in 2014 there has been remarkable breakthrough in the health sector as compared to the previous central governments after India got its independence. Before this, there were just 7 Indian Institute of Medical Science, at present there are 23. Earlier there were 387 medical colleges in the country, at present there are 581. Number of medical students has also increased in the country from 51 thousand 348 to 85 thousand 825.
The Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister and congratulated citizens of the state on launch of the mission..
