Tripura Bypoll: Polling Underway in Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency
Voting for the by-election to the Dharmanagar Assembly constituency commenced at 7 a.m. on Thursday amid tight security arrangements. The bypoll was necessitated following the demise of Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen, who represented the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Polling is being conducted across 55 booths, where voters were seen lining up early in the morning to exercise their democratic rights. Returning Officer Debjani Choudhury informed that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure smooth and transparent voting.
Choudhury further added that elaborate security arrangements have been deployed to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polling. Considering the possibility of a cyclone between April 8 and 10, temporary sheds have also been installed at all polling booths to protect voters from adverse weather conditions.
