Police seized 1500 kgs of cannabis, which is worth around 2.25 crore in Tripura

On Sunday, Tripura Police seized 1500 kgs of cannabis, which is worth around 2.25 crore in Tripura.

Police recovered drugs from a truck at Kumarghat Naka checking in the Beth Cherra area of National Highway 8 (NH-8) after inspection of the truck.

However, the driver of the truck fled away when he saw checking was going on.
An official said, ” Kumarghat Police Station of Unakoti District in Tripura seized 60 packets containing 1500 kgs of cannabis, which cost around 2 crores. Police detained a truck with Assam registration number in the Beth Cherra area of NH8 at Kumarghat.”

The official added that the driver of the lorry ran away on seeing the naka cheking.
SP Unakoti Kanta Jahangir said, “Nobody was arrested. However, police are trying their best to track down and apprehend the smuggler responsible for this illegal operation.”
