Teliamura, Sunday: A protest march was organized against MLA Ranjit Debbarma on Sunday afternoon in the Chakmaghat area of Teliamura under the initiative of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The march, called by the 29 Krishnapur Mandal, passed through various routes of the locality and culminated at Tui Madhu Bazar.

Party leaders alleged that the protest was held in response to Debbarma’s alleged association with the former militant outfit ATTF and his alleged provocative activities.

MDC Bidyut Debbarma and Mandal President Dhananjay Das were present during the demonstration. BJP workers raised slogans demanding strict action and burnt an effigy as a mark of protest, calling for the immediate arrest of the MLA.

The situation remained under control, and no untoward incidents were reported during the protest.
