A crucial review meeting on the implementation of development programs in Khowai district was held today at the conference hall of the District Magistrate’s office The meeting, presided over by MP Kriti Devi Deb Barman, focused on ensuring timely completion of various development projects across the district.
During the meeting, MP Kriti Devi Deb Barman underscored the importance of coordination among different departments to effectively implement the development programs initiated by both the Central and State Governments. She stressed the need for completing these programs within the stipulated timeframe to ensure maximum benefit to the local population. District Magistrate Chandani Chandran provided a comprehensive overview of the recent flood situation in Khowai district, highlighting the extensive damage caused to agriculture, communication infrastructure, national highways, and the power sector.
The presentation, delivered through PowerPoint, detailed the challenges faced by the district and the efforts required for recovery Officials from various departments, including Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. MP Kriti Devi Deb Barman emphasized the need for joint efforts by the Forest Department and the Water Resources Department to undertake plantation drives, particularly the planting of bamboo trees, to combat erosion and flood risks in vulnerable areas.
