A team of Special Protection Group (SPG) has arrived here yesterday ahead of the Prime Minister’s election rally in favour of BJP West Tripura candidate Pratima Bhowmik at Udaipur sports complex in Gomati district of South Tripura today.
The security has been beefed up in Udaipur while movement of vehicles was restricted in the area ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election rally since last night.
Two special protective vehicles have been brought from New Delhi by Air Force cargo carrying plane Gajaraj to ferry PM from airport to Udaipur , covering 63 km distance as an alternative arrangement, if chopper fails to fly due to bad weather between Agartala and Udaipur.
According to schedule, Modi will reach Agartala airport around 1000 hrs today by a special flight of Indian Air Force and from there he will go to Udaipur. In the sideline of election rally, Modi will interact with Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on latest political situation of the state and if time permits he is scheduled to meet BJP core committee members at airport while going back.
Besides, setting up of helipad at Chandrapur, the state administration has erected barricades in both sides of the national highway through which the PM’s convoy would move, if chopper cannot fly.
The SPG team, accompanied by additional DGP Rajiv Singh and SP (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Saptarsi, has been looking after the arrangement of Prime Minister’s visit.
This is the second rally of the Prime Minister in two months in Tripura for election campaign where polling would be held on April 11 .
