On 4th June 2019, acting on specific information about smuggling of Yaba Tablets, BSF troops deployed on Salpukur Border Out Post under PS Sonamura, Distt Sepahijala, intercepted one Auto Rickshaw with Registration No. TR-01E-3036, which was on way from Sonamura to village Baspokar located close to Border fencing. The Auto Rickshaw was being driven by Anwar Hossain @ Annu, S/O – Dula Miah, R/O Village – Brahampur, PS Sonamura, Distt Sepahijala. On reaching near BSF check point, the Auto Rickshaw was signalled to stop.

But driver managed to run away from the spot taking advantages of cluster of houses on both sides of road. On search of the Auto Rickshaw, BSF troops recovered 5,800 Nos Yaba Tablets worth Rs.29,00,000/- from the vehicle. The consignment of Yaba was concealed under driver seat. FIR is being lodged against Anwar Hossain in PS Sonamura and the seized items were handed over to the same PS.

Seizure of Yaba Tablets from area of responsibility of Salpukur Border Out Post, is the third largest consignment of Yaba Tablets seized by the BSF troops from areas under Sonamura Sub-Division of Tripura State during the current year.

On earlier occasions, on 06 April 2019, BSF troops had seized 28,000 Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 1,40,00,000/- from the area of responsibility of N C Nagar Border Out Post and on 13th May 2019, BSF troops of same Border Out Post seized 17,000 Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 85,00,000/- from the bordering area.

In addition to the above seizure, on the same day, BSF troops deployed on the border have also made seizure of 12 Nos of Cattle worth Rs. 85,000/-, 155 Bottles of Liquor worth Rs. 25,210/- and various miscellaneous items worth Rs. 2.65 Lakhs from the bordering areas under PS Sonamura of Distt Sepahijala.
