Surrendered Militants Withdraw Rail and Road Blockade After Government Assurance

Agartala, June 12: The rail and road blockade launched by former militants of the surrendered NLFT and ATTF was withdrawn on Thursday following the intervention of the state government.

Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, accompanied by senior police officials, visited the blockade site and held discussions with the protesters.

During the meeting, the minister assured the demonstrators that the government would seriously examine the demands raised by the surrendered militants and take necessary steps to address their concerns.

Following the assurance from the government, the protesters agreed to call off the blockade, restoring normal movement of vehicles and train services in the affected areas.

Earlier, the surrendered militants had staged the blockade to press for the fulfillment of various long-pending demands. The government has assured that the issues would be reviewed and appropriate action would be taken after due consideration.
