Kamalpur, June 10: The dilapidated condition of National Highway No. 208 from Era Par in Kamalpur to South Manikbhandar Bazar has once again caused severe inconvenience to commuters and transporters. A major traffic disruption occurred on Wednesday morning after two goods-laden vehicles got stuck in large potholes filled with mud on the highway.
According to reports, several stretches of the road have remained in poor condition for a long time. Continuous accumulation of mud and water has created deep potholes, making vehicular movement extremely difficult. As a result, two freight vehicles became trapped in the damaged section of the road, leading to a complete disruption of traffic.
The incident brought traffic on the Kamalpur-Ambasa, Kamalpur-Kumarghat, and Kailashahar-Agartala routes to a near standstill. Long queues of vehicles were seen on both sides of the highway throughout the day.

Office-goers, school and college students, and other daily commuters faced considerable hardship due to the traffic congestion. Local residents alleged that despite repeated complaints, the concerned authorities have failed to undertake effective repair and maintenance work on the highway.
Expressing deep concern over the deteriorating condition of the road, local people have demanded immediate intervention and permanent repair of the affected stretch to prevent further accidents and disruptions.
