SW&SE Minister inaugurates
State Level International Women’s Day programme

“There are many women who are running the country. They are shining the name of the country. However, women have to fight more to improve their socio-economic status and get their rights”.

Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy said this while inaugurating the state-wide International Women’s Day program organized at Muktdhara Auditorium in Agartala on Tuesday.

Notably, the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is Digital: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality.

In the event, Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy said that women and men have equal rights in building society.
He added, ‘Women are only independent today, women are also showing direction to society.

Today girl students are doing well in CBSE or UPSC. Women in the country are advancing day by day.” Roy further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many schemes undertaken by the state government have prioritized women.

He added, “Earlier in our state only 9th class SC and ST girl students were given bicycles. After this government came, it was decided that all the girls of class IX will be given bicycles. Bicycles have been given to 99,000 female students in the last 5 years”.

Tinku Roy said that society should be more aware to prevent domestic violence.
Not only the government, but also various clubs, social organizations and NGOs should come forward.
