Tensions flared along the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura after two Indian farmers were allegedly attacked by Bangladeshi nationals. The incident took place on January 26 in Hirachhara ADC village, Unakoti district, near the zero point of the international boundary.
The victims, Karim Ali and Zamir Ali, were reportedly attacked while inspecting their farmland located near Gate No. 44 of Border Pillar No. 1843, within Indian territory.
The two brothers, both residents of Hirachhara, sustained severe injuries during the attack. Karim suffered deep wounds on his left hand and back, while Zamir sustained head injuries.
Local sources revealed that the brothers, who grow betel leaves and paddy, discovered extensive damage to their crops before the confrontation. Both were immediately transported to the Unakoti District Hospital for treatment. Doctors fear that Karim’s left-hand finger may need to be amputated due to the severity of his injuries.
This incident has heightened tensions in the region, prompting concerns about security and cross-border relations.
