Tripura: BJP wins Dhanpur, Boxanagar assembly Seats

BJP candidates won in two constituencies in Tripura. Affidavits of CPM candidates in Buxnagar center have been seized. On the other hand, the margin of victory has increased in Dhanpur center.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured victory in the byelection for both the Dhanpur and Boxanagar assembly seats in Tripura’s Sepahijala district, as confirmed by the Election Commission (EC).

BJP candidate Tofazzal Hossain has won in Buxnagar by a margin of 30 thousand votes. On the other hand, BJP candidate Bindu Debnath has won Dhanpur center by 18 thousand votes.

By-elections were held in this center after the death of the CPM candidate. On the other hand, by-elections were held in Dhanpur after the resignation of Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik.

The Left has alleged widespread rigging and rigging in the by-elections. CPM has boycotted the counting. However, BJP president Rajiv Bhattacharya said that the election was peaceful. According to Election Commission sources, the polls were completed peacefully.

The polling for the by-elections was held on September 5. An average turnout of 86.50 per cent was recorded in the two seats. The counting was held at the Sonamura Girls’ School amid tight security.
