CPIM alleged that the bye-elections in the 20-Boxanagar and 23-Dhanpur Assembly Constituencies were allegedly manipulated by individuals associated with the ruling BJP party, with the involvement of a portion of the police and Civil Administration.
On the day of the bye-elections, the ruling BJP allegedly allowed outsiders into the constituency areas and strategically placed them throughout both constituencies.
Only a few CPIM polling agents managed to attend their respective polling booths. However, they were reportedly forced out by BJP-affiliated individuals.
Opposition supporters who resisted the directives of the alleged miscreants were threatened with severe consequences, and therefore, many legitimate voters being turned away from polling booths.
Several voters were allegedly forced to cast their votes in the presence of BJP-affiliated individuals, and in some cases, these individuals allegedly voted on behalf of the voters.
In this context, the CPIM Tripura State Secretariat demanded the cancellation of the entire elections in both the 20-Boxanagar and 23-Dhanpur constituencies and the organization of a fresh election with the strictest security measures.
CPIM also demanded deployment of electoral staff from outside the poll-bound District for the upcoming election.
