Tripura: CM Manik Saha attends blood donation camp in Agartala

There are many donations in the society like eye donation, body donation. But blood donation is above all donations. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said this while inaugurating the Blood Donation Camp organized by Tripura State Unit of All India Bank Officers Confederation at Agartala Press Club today.

The Chief Minister said that the role of blood in the human body is essential. Blood plays an important role in transporting proteins, carbohydrates, oxygen etc. in the human body. Blood substitutes have not yet been discovered in medical science. Blood donation is essential to save the life of a patient. So donating blood is considered as a noble gift.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also said that by donating blood, a spiritual feeling is created in people which cannot be expressed in words. During the last assembly elections in the state, shortage of blood was observed in 12 government and 2 private blood banks. After the elections, the state government called for blood donation camps across the state to overcome this shortage of blood.

Responding to this call of the state government, various government and non-governmental organizations and various social organizations and the people of the state are organizing blood donation camps. The Chief Minister expressed sincere thanks to all the bank officers and other employees for fulfilling their duties as well as coming forward in humanitarian activities.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has called for a drug-free Tripura in order to free the youth from the clutches of drugs. The state government has adopted a zero tolerance policy against drug addiction. The Chief Minister also urged the bank employees to come forward to build a state-wide social movement against addiction.
